Organic Grapefruit Seed Extract - Is food grade.  Grapefruit Seed Extract (commonly referred to as GSE) is normally used as an antioxidant to help prevent rancidity in lotion and lotion bars. Thick and golden like honey, our GSE is 33% extract and 67% Glycerin. Recommended usage is .5% to 1% by weight. There is some belief that GSE also works as a preservative. At The Gourmet Rose, we do not endorse the use of GSE as the sole preservative in lotions. We believe that a full-spectrum preservative is sometimes needed to prevent mold and bacterial growth in your lotion products. A thick, dark green liquid with a definite herbal aroma. 

GENERAL DOSAGE:  Our grapefruit seed extract is made from organically grown grapefruits.  General Adult Dosage, mix 5-15 drops in 8 oz water or juice 1-3 times daily.  Children (5 years or older), mix 1-6 drops in 8 oz juice or water 1-2 times daily.  Do NOT use full strength on any part of the body.  Use as directed by your healthcare professional.

Antioxidants are designed to help protect the liquids and oils from spoiling and opening the door to other contaminants. This process cannot be stopped completely, but using an antioxidant considerably slows down the process. Using an antioxidant will increase the shelf life of natural products and are still safe for your skin.
