Description:
Cloves are the dried, aromatic flower buds of the clove tree. A potent spice with a uniquely warm, sweet, and aromatic character. Most often used sparingly, especially since cloves have a numbing effect in the mouth. Cloves pair well with various spices, including cinnamon, allspice, vanilla, red wine, basil, onion, citrus peels, star anise, and peppercorns.
